Guys, do you all know what you are signing up to? The world faces so many problems - poverty, hunger, natural disasters, lack of education... This kony violence thing is but one of them. But is it THAT important to warrant such extent of attention from everyone? So many people die from hunger each day. People, not just children. Millions of them. Where's the care and concern for these people? We all love to feel empowered, to get the feeling that we can do something to change the world. I myself, like the feeling that I can contribute to something. BUT, it's a totally different issue.

Truth is, global issues are often too complex to be solved easily by so-called charitable acts.

Truth is, Uganda is pretty much in a peaceful state now. LRA happened in the time periods of 2003-2004. Which means what we are getting 'outraged' by, is old news.

Truth is, plastering posters and wearing bracelets won't solve the issue. Raising awareness is great, having information is good. But information has to be objective and not one-sided. Solving the issue in question is not just a simple few steps process as described in the video. Have you really found out what is going on in Uganda?

Truth is, Kony has actually been forced out of Uganda. This comes from people who have themselves been in Uganda.

I like the idea of spreading awareness. But tell me, how plastering posters in eg UK, or Australia going to help the arrest of Kony? To raise awareness in your own country, force your own country's politicians to join the movement? And then? Is it even a cause of concern in Uganda now?

People tend to get swayed by emotive scenes, and emotive words. It's a very successful video in this sense, which explains this whole phenomenon. But to me, it's dangerous, it's worrying, to be supporting a dubious organisation or supporting a cause that is not a cause for concern.

I think we are better off devoting our resources to help people feed themselves, survive or lead a healthy life. Justice definitely needs to be done, Kony has been indicted, he needs to be arrested to face punishment for what he has done. But what's done, is done. Killing him a million times wouldn't help mend those scars. What's more important is to think of the way forward, help Uganda and other African states be self-sufficient so that people can have an increased quality of life.

Please, don't let those lofty ideals get in the way of greater causes and issues that deserve more of our attention.
